Michi Girl - Lovable loves appreciation of good lingerie
 |
Lovable loves local commentary on Australian fashion and world trends. Read on below for the latest on Michi Girl's observation on the importance of good lingerie:
A stylish and much more successful woman than me once gave me the following advice; 'As long as you're wearing great underwear you can achieve anything'. |
|
To be honest, it didn't mean much at the time because my job didn't actually involve dancing on the table in my knickers, but I've since discovered there's a lot to be said for this comment.
Camel toes, exposed g-strings, VPL's - knickers are a minefield. And a badly fitting bra can cause a world of trouble too. Extra boobs popping out the top, or nearly non-existent boobs being flattened into tea bags, terrible. Or the worst offender, boobs on your back where the fat is smooshed up and over your bra strap. Urghk.
Anyway, I recently decided to put this advice into practice and went out and bought a beautiful, professionally fitted, undies and bra for a big presentation I had to do for a bunch of boring but important men. Just for the record the presentation went really well, I aced it in fact. Although my success may have something to do with the fact that I'd actually forgotten to wear any knickers.

Deadly Sins of Sisterhood
|
Lovable supports the 'Deadly Sins of Sisterhood' - a fan group that works to eliminate sisters around Australia from committing the worst intimates faux pas:
VPL - The Visible Panty Line - enough said!
VBL - Visible Bra Line follows swiftly behind the renowned VPL as another Deadly Sin of the Sisterhood, with both fashion trip-ups catching out as many stellar celebrities as us normal folks. The outcome of many a celebrity VBL faux pas has been published across the globe, busting the poor wearer’s mishap as she sports attractive ‘double cheeks’ under her fashionable bandage dress or flashing her undies as she hops out of her limo.
'Back Fat' effect- When a badly-fitting bra with a strap that’s too tight cruelly cuts into the skin leaving an ugly bulge poking through tee-shirts and tops. |
'Four Boob' effect- Smaller cup sizes do not maketh bigger boobs! All they do is create an unattractive mountain range on your chest. More Kath & Kim than Heidi Klum!
'Bra-Less' - Girls, if serial sinners Kate and Lindsay can’t get away with it, what on earth makes you think you can?

Everybody's Lovable - Lovable Supports The Butterfly Foundation
 |
Lovable proudly announces our newly founded partnership with The Butterfly Foundation, Australia’s largest not-for-profit organisation supporting sufferers of eating disorders and negative body image.
Created to raise awareness of eating disorders and boost women’s self-esteem, the partnership between Lovable and The Butterfly Foundation will be officially launched this September. This will coincide with National Body Image and Eating Disorder Awareness Week and culminate in a co-hosted event with Cleo Magazine during 30 Days of Fashion. |
|
Our decision to publicly support the issues surrounding positive body image and eating disorders is the latest step in our long-standing philosophy to support the physical and emotional needs of women through our brand values, communication strategies and design approach.
Our research shows that only 1% of women are totally happy with their bodies, citing their own self pressures, the outside influence of celebrity and model culture, and shopping environments as the leading causes for their dissatisfaction. We want to help reverse this thinking and encourage women to believe that Everybody’s Lovable’.
Eating disorders are the 3rd most common chronic health problem facing women.
We are dedicated to changing the culture surrounding eating disorders and body image through our support of Butterfly, by using happy, healthy models in our campaigns and promotional activities and by continuing to design intimates that are not created to objectify women’s bodies but to make women look, and most importantly feel, great when they wear them.
Our support of the cause will initially be realised through the allocation of 25% of profits from all sales generated through our online boutique throughout September 2009 , which will be donated directly to The Butterfly Foundation to assist in their invaluable work in the fields of research, awareness and prevention programs. |
